Hakea prostrata, or harsh hakea is a low-lying shrub with prickly, oblong leaves found from Geraldton to Esperance, including the Perth area. Found on hill-sides, shallow soil on granite outcrops and stabilising sand dunes.
It flowers through winter and spring with grouped, sweet scented white flowers. It produces hard seed pods which are food for black cockatoos.
